Re: coral calcium?

I've been trying to find out about this coral calcium since I first heard of it.

The reason simply being that it sounds just too close to oyster calcium in structure, which was found to have absolutely no positive benefits for the human bodies bones what so ever. I was actually told that we might as well take a chuck of sidewalk and chew on it because the benefits would be the same. NONE!!

In my research (which is still just starting), the experts I've spoken to so far agree, one being an expert for 20+ years in supplements and the other an expert for 25+ years in nutrition. Both agreed that this coral calcium is nothing more then antoher craze on the market to make someone rich. The truth being that our bodies CAN NOT break down and synthesis coral calcium.

The supplement expert owns and runs a vitamin and health store. He should be trying to sale the coral calcium because of the money he could make on it. But he is a different kind of store owner. He is not so much interested in making a lot of money as he is in trying to help his customers feel better and live a healther life. He explained to me that of the people that have insisted in buying the coral calcium none have purchased a second or third bottle. Why? simply because they were correctly informed of this product and without having it pushed on them found no benefit. They were not drilled about how much healther the people of Owahama, Japan are. Did anyone stop to think?, do the people of Owahama eat the way we do? drink sodas the way we do? and live the way we do? Their lifestyle is very, very diffent, which is going to contribute to thier health.

Did anyone stop and wonder why this coral calcium is only good out of the waters of Owahama? Well, did you know that it is the only place in the world that allows harvesting of coral!!!

My greatest fear with this product is that you'll have people that won't do the proper research and will take the information given about this product to be true. There are going to be people that need to be taking a good calcium for health reasons such as OSTEOPOROSIS - A CONDITION OF LOSS OF BONE DENSITY AND THINNING OF BONE TISSUE. - which are going to hear the salers on coral calcium and believe all of it. The danger is that using this product is not going to help them with this disorder and may actually allow for more damage to occur.

If someone really wants to prove that coral calcium works, a very good test and positive proof would be to take a bone density test before starting to take this product and then have another taken 6 months to a year later. See if the density test comes back with positive results.

I have a very strong opinion because my mom has the beginnings of Osteoporosis and I would not want her to waste her time taking a product that is not going to help her. And take 6 months to a year for her to find that out and have the disease increase in that precious time that could have been used taking something that would have helped and reversed the disorder.

Please take the time to research this product before depending on it to help your health.

Your body depends on you to give it only the best. We honestly don't know about this coral calcium and shouldn't be believing what a salesperson is tells us just because they want to make a sale.

It's sad to say but our government allows for this to happen. To date, vitamins and herb remedies are exempt from proving their claims of effectiveness and are not governed by the FDA, which means they do not have to meet FDA standards as do prescription drugs and over the counter drugs. Which if you think about it, it's really scary. I recently read an article in The Ledger on March 12, 2003, where I found the information regarding the FDA not being a watch dog for supplements of which coral calcium is one.

The maker and distributors of coral calcium have no-one watching and testing this product but themselves.

Did you know that the manufacturers of supplements are not regulated to only have what is on the label in the bottle?. and are not held to having what the label claims either.

In the article mentioned above, FDA officials said that California researcher found that only one of 12 bodybuilding supplements tested contained the amount of androstenedione or related ingredients listed on the label. One brand illegally contained testosterone, a controlled substance sold by prescription. So if these companies, which are established and have been saling these products for years are doing this, what are the manufacturers of coral calcium putting in thier product?????
Scare you? it scares me!!!!

Well I just hope I made you think just even a little bit.

Be well and research, research, research before taking anything into your precious body. Remember, we only have one!!!! Why put rocks in it. The next time you see a piece of coral, look at it. It looks like a rock, feels like a rock, imagine chewing on a piece.
