The raw plant is very toxic (though in any given year there are normally only 3 or fewer deaths reported worldwide).  All but a minute amount of toxins are removed during making of the home remedy (and the same is true for the patented medicine version and the supplement version).  I have complete instructions on making the home remedy posted here at CureZone and on my own website, as well as at many other internet locations.

I am with you - nature is the best place to find remedies, if you can.  Many though are just not available in your own backyard, so to speak.
