White snowy stuff in my chimney (LA suburb)

Hello,

I've had to take a couple of days off early in the week due to spontaneous and intense hip/back ache. Looked in my Gas fireplace today and there is actually white fluffy stuff on the ceramic coals. I am ready to duct tape the whole area off to keep from inhaling the stuff.
