Re: persistent cough

Hi Rachel,

1. A diet consisting of mainly fruits and vegetables for a few days, or better yet a juice fast for several days would help.
2. For natural expectorants (to expel the phlegm) and demulcents (to soothe the irritation)make an infussion 3-4 times a day from equal parts of marshmallow, coltsfoot, and Antibiotic herbs such as hyssop (or thyme) to kill bacteria.
Use 2 teaspoons of the mixed herbs and infuse for 8-10 minuts in boiling spring water. cover the mug during that time. You can sweeten with a bit of honey if you so wish. Honey itself is also beneficial in that regard.
2. You can make a simple cough remedy by dicing a large onion puting it in a bowl and adding to it 6-8 Tbs of honey. Let it sit in room temprature overnight. in the morning strain off the mixture of honey and onion juice which makes a simple but effective cough syrop. Take 1 tsp 6-7 times a day.
3. You can make good cough mixture from an infusionaldecoction of 1 part wach of coltsfoot flowers, marshmallow leaves, hyssop and half part each of licorice root and aniseed. simmer the infussion for 10 minuts and then strain off. sweeten it with honey and drink a cupful hot 3-4 times a day.

If after a few days, of taking all these measures, your cough does not subside, go and see a doctor or an N.D for proper diagnosis.
