Re: New Fast

Welcome to the forum!

I wish you luck on your fast and you can definitely make it if you keep focused and remind yourself of why you are fasting in the first place.

Since you asked what you can expect while fasting, here is some advice gathered from my own experience. The first day will be hard, especially if you live with others who are constantly eating delicious snacks and junk food(like my family). You will want to join them, you may even find yourself opening the cabinet and just standing there *looking* at the food...wondering if you should break your fast.

But just remember, if you do give in and break the fast, you will just set yourself back to where you started, and obviously you dont want to be where you started or you wouldnt have made this challenge for yourself. So close the cabinet, find something productive to do to get your mind off of food and you will make it.

Right now, I'm on Day 2 of an at least 7 day juice fast, but did intermittent fasting all last week where I fasted every other day by just drinking water and soy milk. I was hungry yesterday and almost gave in a couple times, but I made it and today I wasnt even very hungry at all. I keep myself occupied and out of the kitchen unless I am getting juice or water.

You may become cranky and irritable due to being hungry and sometimes even resentful to those around you who are eating your favorite foods. But just remember you are doing something good for yourself and you will be so proud of your accomplishment when you reach the last day.

As for rate of weight loss, I have been losing 1.5 to 2 pounds per day. The very first day I fasted last week, I lost 3 pounds. Yours might be less, unless you weigh 250+ pounds like I do.

If you want to know anything else about what to expect, just let me know...I'm here everyday! :)
