Salicylate Sensitivity/Asthma, shortness of breath, wheezing
More interesting information.
I can just imagine trying to tell the parents/grandmother of the asthmatic granddaughter that in her case, fruits and vegetables may be a problem. "WHAT? You're crazy, everyone knows fruits and vegetables are GOOD for you! First you tell us she has worms- then you tell us fruits and vegetables may be a problem?"
No, I'm sure they wouldn't consider having any testing done to rule it out--fruits and vegetables? How ridiculous.
I didn't make this up :c)

>>>>>Salicylate sensitivity is more likely to occur in people who have moderate to severe asthma or chronic rhinosinusitis. The problem becomes more common as people age and as their asthma gets worse.>>>>>>
"But, the Dr. said she'll outgrow her asthma"-- and "she'll just always have high platelets and infection in her lungs because her lungs are thick because of the asthma...and "they" tested her, the only "allergies" she has is to mold and feathers- no foods" Been put in the hospital more than once for her severe asthma, heart about jumping out of her chest from lack of oxygen.
She craves fruit, oranges especially- but they make sores in her mouth.
>>>>>Those who are sensitive to salicylates find that an excessive amount first stimulates, then depresses the central nervous system. This can lead to many different kinds of symptoms, including some that might seem incompatible. For example, both hyperactivity and lethargy are associated with salicylate sensitivity.
Symptoms of the condition may include:
Breathing difficulties
Wheezing
Headaches
Ear infections
Changes in skin color
Nasal congestion
Itching, skin rash or hives
Swelling of the hands, feet, eyes and face
Stomach pain
Hyperactivity
Lethargy
Inability to concentrate
Mouth ulcers, or red rash around the mouth
Nasal polyps
Coughing
Rhinitis
Sinusitis
Cognitive and perceptual disorders
In rare cases, sensitivity to salicylate can cause symptoms of anaphylactic shock.
