Liver? Or, THE liver?

Gosh!

I tried really hard to eat liver, several times, back in the days of the original Weight Watchers.

But, it tasted like cow pee.

I even cooked it myself, using a recipe that called for tomatoes, or something.

It was no use, I hated it, and the kitchen smelled awful.

Later, my mother-in-law, at the time, tried to show us how she could save money on a meal of chicken giblets soup and bread and butter.

Nuff said!

Dh, these days likes to stew some marrow bones sometimes, for soup broth, and so he can scoop out the marrow for a treat.

The mother of a childhood friend...the dearest of ladies...sliced off a good-sized piece of browned fat from a cooled roast ham, and ate it, right in front of me!

Bread and drippings showed up several times in books I read in early days.

There are other stories, too, about liver in my life...but I'll spare you.

If you were speaking about liver as a food, I'll pass.
