Yes! Making tinctures...it's SO easy (+edit)...Re: "User X", would somebody please 'explain me'?!

Start on a new moon (or thereabouts); use organic herbs only (fresh if available).

Use 100 proof alcohol (80 proof will work). If you can't find 100 proof (vodka is usually offered in 100 proof), then mix 80 proof vodka with Everclear to come up with 100 proof (but Everclear is not available in every state - the first link below deals with that). EDIT: Always use alcohol (or glycerin, if you understand how to use it); NEVER make tinctures or tonics (to store in bottle) with water...NEVER EVER. Anything made in water and stored without refrigeration (for even a day) can harbor & grow all variety of pathogens. Whenever using herbs with water, always use distilled water and ingest the tea/decoction within a few hours (and/or be sure to store it in the fridge). The last thing on earth we need in the natural healing world is for someone to get sick or die from using homemade herbal preparations.

Put the herbs in a blender (a VitaMix if you have one) and add enough alcohol to blend it all into "applesauce". The pour it into a big glass jar (I use canning jars for smaller amounts and one gallon glass jars for large amounts). If the herbs are big pieces of dried roots or hard berries, many times I soak them in the alcohol for a few days before I macerate them.

Once the mixture has settled and you can see what 'ratio' you have (herbs to alcohol), then add alcohol to make whatever ratio of 'herbs to alcohol' you prefer.

I make mine so that AT LEAST half the jar is herbs and half alcohol, but most of mine are 3/4 herbs & 1/4 alcohol.

Shake it (at the minimum) every day - it's better if you follow Dr. Christopher's recommendation to "shake it every time you walk past it"! Let it tincture a minimum of two weeks, and then strain it on the full moon. Keep them in a cool, dark place.

Most all herbs work in alcohol, there are some (like lobelia) that must be made with half raw apple cider vinegar and half alcohol.

I make sure I'm always in a good, positive 'healing frame of mind' when I start mine, and I say various 'blessings & good energy' for them whenever I shake them.

No matter what you end up with (this is a promise!) it will ALWAYS be better and more effective than ANYTHING you can buy. Even the best, most expensive tinctures on the market are only tinctured for two weeks at rations of 3 parts alcohol to 1 part herb (and after making just a few of my own, having purchased various ones to 'taste test' against what I make), I find it hard to believe that ANY company selling tinctures actually tinctures there's for two weeks!

Remember, people have been doing this for hundreds of years - it doesn't take 'rocket Science knowledge', fancy scales or lab equipment, advanced learning or degrees, or anything of the sort. All it takes is high quality herbs, alcohol and a heart for healing.
