Worldwide sea ice is about to break the record for maximum positive anomaly at +1.5MKm2
The southern hemisphere anomaly is already a record at +2MKm2
The minimum southern hemisphere sea ice extent record will be shattered in a few weeks. Maybe by as much as 2MKm2. Antarctica has had essentially no spring or summer this year.
The area around the Ross ice shelf is frozen solid with very dense ice. Not too long ago, this was the southern global warming poster child.
Northern hemisphere sea ice is almost back to normal and on a steep upwards trajectory.
Greeley (Eastern Colorado) broke their low temperature record this morning by 13 degrees at -20F.
This is the first December in the modern record where the average high temperature was below freezing. Some NOAA maps show Greeley temperatures near normal, when they are actually more than 10 degrees below normal.
Southern Colorado is 12 degrees below normal for the month.
