No vaccine is a cure. A successful vaccine works by stimulating the immune system so that it produces ample antibodies against the specific pathogen that is being vaccinated against. In the case of herpes, the virus isn't removed or "killed" and still remains, hopefully kept dormant by the stimulated immune system, in the infected nerve cells. There is no cure for herpes.
