Re: Colon rebuilding
Congrats on your cleanse success! There are several things that you can do to maintain your progress. It is essential that you restore beneficial bacteria with a high-quality probiotic. You may even want to double up on the dose for the first week or two after you end the cleanse. Your diet will have the greatest influence on your bowel functioning...refrain from sugar, dairy and flour products (all mucoid-forming) and consume lots of vegetables and fruits so that you get lots of fiber. Flesh food is also mucoid forming, although some people do well with it so you'll need to determine whether it is appropriate for you. Soy beans are almost as mucoid-forming as meat, so a vegetarian diet is not necessarily the answer if soy products are consumed. You may also want to supplement fiber intake by taking one dose of psyllium a day or using ground flax seeds...which also gives you the benefit of omega 3. Flax seeds are pretty tasty and you can sprinkle them on cereals, salads, soups and the like. Exercise is important...for overall muscle tone and to rev metabolism which improves elimination. And sufficient water intake is a must! See my post in the
Bowel Cleanse Archive forum...Causes of Constipation...this may give you so more tips to prevent it.
If you've had any particular conditions related to your bowel... colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, Crohn's disease, etc....there are specific herbs and supplemental nutrients that help to address these conditions. I'd be glad to make suggestions if needed.
