Re: Bentonite -> question for Ptree
I'm not a big fan of 'drug store fibers'....they often have other things in them besides fiber including sugars, artificial flavorings, etc. But if you can't take plain psyllium husks for whatever reason, Metamucil is better than nothing. (Frankly, I don't know of anyone using Metamucil with bentonite...I don't know if the combination could cause some sort of reaction, although I doubt it.)
I don't know why you couldn't drink the #9, but you might have better results with Yerba Prima WHOLE husk psyllium...it doesn't gel up as fast and goes down easier than the powdered psyllium. If you try this just make sure you adjust the dose to 1 tablespoon.
It's curious that you are experiencing constipation with the addition of bentonite....usually the psyllium is the culprit. It is very possible that you have released some mucoid plaque into your intestinal tract since adding the
Bentonite that is clogging the pipes. Using enemas or
colonics can excelerate clearing out this material. It's also a good idea to cut back on the frequncy of shakes whenever you become constipated while doing a colon cleanse. Also try drinking more water.
The dosage for liquid
Bentonite is 1 tablespoon per shake regardless of your weight.
Some people have a tremendous amount of mucoid plaque in their intestines...up to 40lbs!!! Over time you can lose some weight, but it usually takes quite a while...sometimes doing a cleanse for several months and then repeating it several times over a couple of years. It takes a long time to build up that gunk, and it takes time to get rid of it! As your body releases the toxic material it becomes more efficient at absorbing nutrients so you may be satisfied with less food intake. Don't expect a dramatic reduction in weight on a colon cleanse...that comes with modifications in diet and exercise. Reducing stress and cleansing the liver can also help in this regard.
Everyone is different regarding how long they stay on the cleanse. Once you start releasing mucoid plaque, continue on the cleanse as long as you are seeing significant quantities of it. If the release slows down or stops you can discontinue the cleanse for several months and then repeat it. Your diet while on the cleanse will also determine how well and how much material you release...the cleaner the diet the better!
Avoid the 'whites'...sugar, dairy and flour, and cut back on flesh foods. Your diet should be primarily focused on vegetables, some fruits and some protein and fat. Avoid low-fat foods...they often contain a lot more
Sugar to compensate for the lack of fat and may actually contribute to weight increase.
