Question on Candida and Cleansing

Yesterday I saw my naturopath and was asking questions about whether to keep treating the candida or begin a lengthy and thorough cleansing process (which I've been planning to do) - he said that doing cleansing while candida is present is like putting dirty oil into a car during an oil change - it adds insult to injury for the candida.
