lodoral and clear iodine?

Would like to know why people, who use Lugol's Iodine externally and/or internally also supplement with lodoral? Isn't Lodaral's ingredients basically the same as Lugol's? It is said that a tablet is only 10% to 20% absorbed while a pill is a little over 20%. But liquid is over 98% absorbed by the stomach. Also what is the difference between regular colored Iodine and clear?
