Another Fabulous, Life Changing Book
Wow! I'm running on all cylinders in the history department lately! First Sam Houston- and I'm going to the Alamo later this summer so I'll walk where David Crockett walked and died. Oh, gosh, if you haven't read his "Not Yours to Take," you've seriously GOT to. Then Gary North's "Conspiracy in Philadelphia" which is full of insight into the lives of the framers of the U.S. Constitution, and now this!
I'm cleaning out my school room/office and packing away a lot of unused but very precious books. I came across one of those books that just impacts your life so much it changes who you are, and I had to stop and tell y'all about it.
It's "The Bondage of the Will," by Martin Luther. You know how several of us have been discussing the concept of sovereignty, and how that principle is key to understanding the words written in the Declaration of Independence. We have been talking about individual/personal sovereignty, of course, but I want to invite you to take it a step further. Where did our personal sovereignty come from? From God Himself. Who is Sovereign over all? See, Luther understood his own position before God, in Christ. He understood the sovereignty of divine grace.
I could gush on, but I'd rather you find a copy of this book and read it. My copy is published by Revell, a division of Baker Books, copyright 1957. I assume any good Christian bookstore would have it in stock.
Blessings,
Donna
