Re: Moon Huts

Those are great articles. I wish I could go out to a moon hut every month.

That's interesting about the stem cells. Perhaps in the future if a woman gets severely injured, her own cells could be used to heal her (an injury like Christopher Reeve's even)? Though a man would have to depend on his sister/mother/daughter or stranger who is the closest match and risk the cells being rejected.

I have been eating mostly raw since late February. When I started out, I tried the "eat anything as long as it is raw" approach. I started feeling better, but hit a plateau pretty quickly, and after 2 months of 100% raw I still had horrible cravings for cooked food. Over the summer, I am trying the "at least 80% raw" approach, but doing a Warrior-like diet. I eat only raw fruits until about 2 o'clock, with the only exceptions being a superfood drink sweetened with raw agave nectar, or a few raw nuts or sesame milk if I am really hungry. Then for dinner I allow myself raw veggies and nuts and raw salmon or quail eggs, then I sometimes eat cooked brown rice or beans or whatever leftovers I have made for the kids that they didn't finish eating. I feel better on this diet than I did 100% raw with all the nuts and seeds and avocados, etc. Many days I don't eat anything cooked, and I don't feel the cravings. Last week my son wanted to go to Taco Bell and I ate 2 orders of Nachos Supreme (without the beef). Well, my stomach tried to digest it for a few hours, but it eventually came back up and into the toilet. Someday I do want to go 100% raw again, but it is very difficult with two little ones who eat cooked food and living in a foreign country for the next few years, I feel like I will be missing out if I don't sample the variety of great local food while I am here.

About cramps, it is good that you have not experienced them. I grew up in a first generation italian-american home. My parents valued fresh fruits and veggies. I never understood why my friends in high school would complain about cramps. Then I went to college. I began to eat a more standard american diet. In addition to the three meals a day they served in the cafeteria, I drank a gallon of whole milk every week and ate pizza almost every night as a bedtime snack. I also consumed a lot of weight-gain powers. I was always teased for being so "skinny". Of course these things did not help me gain weight at all but I developed horrible cramps. Every month I would take 30-50 advil tablets and be in so much pain. I'm now 33, and as I eat better, I have less cramps. For the last few months, I have not had to take anything for the pain (I had recently been using Dr Schultze's herbal formula, which works pretty well). This is why I think there may be some validity to the menstruation as toxins-removal theory.

Tina.
