Another use for urine (mosquitos)

Last night I was working in the garden and it started getting dark. The mosquitos started coming out and bothering me. I put a little urine on my hand and rubbed it all over my head and neck, immediately the mosquitos stopped bothering me. Although I know they were still around because they started bothering my legs (had shorts on). Has anyone obsserved this?
