It sounds like you've got a good attitude and have taken charge of your situation.

Some other things you might add to the list. A product many drug stores carry that can help with the immediate discomfort is topical anesthetics. Almost anything with a "--caine" in the ingredients list will work. Some of the experienced people recommend a spray product called "Dermoplast" in the blue can.

Also missing from the list are the three antiviral meds, acyclovir, valtrex and famvir. They're still the most effective way to deal with an outbreak and, if taken before the OB gets too far underway, can nip it in the bud. They have an excellent safety record, too.
