Can you smell?

Here are various possbile culprits:

Ear infections
Anemia
Vitamin B12 deficiency
Folate deficiency
Zinc deficiency

I also have heard of nasal sprays that cause loss of smell which in turn would cause loss of taste.

Also possible - some medications, tooth infections, smoking.

I remember reading about the B12 deficiency/loss of taste somewhere - do you take multi B and B12? As we age we may not produce enough intrinsic factor and without it cannot metabolize B12.

I'd try researching some of that it may bring you to a clue perhaps?

Definitely check the ears, as an ear problem could easily affect taste. I know when I've had the flu food does not have taste - so an infection could easily be the culprit.
