Thank you for your reply Luella & sharing your experiences with statins which must be devastating to witness.
My now 85 year old mother was prescribed atorvastatins after her heart attack in late 2004, at the dose of 80mg per day, until I intervened. The consultant overseeing her case eventually admitted that for anyone over the age of 75 to 80, statins did not have any noticeable or beneficial effect, and were therefore discontinued, because of my intervention and of my mothers own volition and on my advice.
Her memory improved, and the muscle pains she complained about disappeared.
