Hey there Neomi and all--since we are talking about digestion and I just learned something new, I'd like to add some here. I got this info from an allergy nurse two days ago when I went to my allergy doc (I have just started on allergy shots for food allergies , thank God!). She told me that if you continually consume foods you are allergic to you can wear out your pancreas because it will put out 3 times as many enzymes as it normally would to digest a food your body thinks is a foreign object (food antigen). It does this apparently in an attempt to get rid of the foreign object by putting out a ton of enzymes. So, if you keep eating your allergic foods, it will greatly impact your digestion. I didn't get any indication from her that pancreatic function could be restored. I'm wondering if juice fasting could give it enough rest to restore it, in addition to either avoiding all allergenic foods or getting immunotherapy for food allergies . Any ideas?
