There are countless scientific studies showing that people who are happy have high levels of the neurotransmitter serotonin in their brain. And, there are countless studies showing that people who are depressed have very low levels of serotonin.
Reduced serotonin levels are commonly attributed to factors of stress, poor nutrition, lack of exercise, lack of sleep, and lack of sunlight. Serotonin, along with dopamine, norepinephrine, melatonin, insulin, and prostaglandins are some of the important neurochemicals that are influenced strongly by stress, diet, exercise, sunlight, sleep and other life style factors. However, serotonin is even more strongly influenced by our dietary excess of B6.
B6 is the only "vitamin" that is not natural and not a vitamin. In the 1920's, nobody noticed that the amino acid L-tryptophan was not just a precursor for niacin (vitamin B3), but that it was also the only precursor for serotonin. That important discovery was not made until the 1970's. Unfortunately, the medical “science” that B6 was the necessary vitamin precursor to niacin was a well-entrenched dogma.
B6 is added for processed-food product promotional reasons since it is a cheap, simple and stable synthetic chemical that does not degrade with age or cooking. Adding 100% of the RDA costs almost nothing. But B6 is NOT a vitamin. It is not found in any natural food. And there is no natural form of B6. It is a chemical additive and not a food.
Thus, the average person in America who eats breakfast cereal along with many other vitamin-enriched foods will receive about ten times the RDA for B6. That is an extreme overdose of B6 that prevents the amino acid L-tryptophan from entering the brain. And, L-tryptophan is what our brain cells need to make serotonin.
Almost all of our dietary problems, mental and physical disorders are all the result of a huge surplus of B6 in our diet and supplements. What is B6? Okay, lets trip lightly through some chemistry. The major forms of B6 are pyridoxine, pyridoxal, and peridoxamine. Pyridoxine is the most common form of B6 used in multi vitamins, and vitamin additives to foods.
But, the body actually uses pyridoxal in the chemical form of: pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P5P). P5P is the active enzyme form of B6 that does not require activation by the liver and does not convert L-tryptophan to niacin. Supplementation should switch from B6 to P5P. Our nervous system needs the P5P to aid in protein metabolism, and in the absorption of B12. Also, P5P is a cofactor in managing homocysteine levels.
Overdosing with B6 (pyridoxine) converts the L-tryptophan to niacin, and thus significantly limits the amount of serotonin and also melatonin that can be produced in the brain. Interference with serotonin production leads to some major health problems.
How can our health professionals overlook something so important? Would I sound too cynical to say: follow the money trail? Could it be that supplementation with L-tryptophan and P5P, and avoidance of B6 might reduce pharmaceutical sales?
As we transform our dragons and free more of our conscious awareness we become more aware of how we are deceived and enslaved by the matrix. Our health, and the health of our loved ones will improve as we grow in our awareness.
