mercury, possible ingestion

I don't even know if you can answer my question.
I was using a frying thermometer in some grease for cooking fish and the mercury from the thermometer got into the grease when the glass tube broke. We discarded the grease but my question is about the cast iron pot that I was cooking in. Is it safe to use the pot since the mercury from the themometer got into the hot grease and in turn got into the pores of the cast iron pot? Tweet
