calcium hydroxide has a intense reaction in the soil this is bad from a agricultural standpoint. This reaction is great if your making cement or morter and there are many other industrial applications. The reaction is with carbons and is in the realm of chemistry. There are agriculture grade limes but you probably wont find them at local centers like lowes and menards.I seen that you posted on the high brix forum a while back.Go to the forum yahoo page and type in high calcium lime in the search engine and read up on good sources of calcium. The study of soil is quite complex and goes on for ever.I dont supplement high calcium in my sprouting compost do to the nature of sprouts and the limited grow time which is not applicable to high brix gardening application.I harvested the sunflowers today and was happy about the yield the plants grew well and got really BIG.The taste was similer to baby black oil and the yield potential is great.Jeff.
