Thoughts about Conference Call 27APR08
Hello everyone,
In case some of you were not able to join us in the conference call, I would like to add a little more info about it, since Cabel is absolutely correct in that there was so much great stuff covered in the call, that it’s impossible to include everything in one post.
An observation was made in the call about the significant number of new members who have joined the various Body Odor forums, and have dialed into the conference calls. There is a sense of wanting to unite amongst all forums (as well as sufferers who may not be actively participating in a forum), and this is has produced a strong momentum in our quest for diagnosis, treatment, and cure. There are great measures in the works to set in motion significant scientific research throughout the world, and this is all very exciting to us all who want to find an answer for ourselves and for our future generations.
In yesterday’s call, Arun expressed why efforts in the past to kick off this endeavor had failed – not enough subjects for scientific study! This means that not enough sufferers participated in questionnaires and testing not only to find personal diagnosis and treatment, but to also help the scientists help us! In the past, he and the Trimethylaminuria Foundation had set up the 2nd NIH Trimethylaminuria Conference, and of the 100 sufferers that had committed to attend, only approximately a handful showed up! And approximately that same amount of sufferers participated in Arun’s scientific questionnaires and Meet-ups. So, in this call, we discussed the physical barriers that might have prevented sufferers from participating, but we realized that the greatest barrier was the paralyzing emotional conflic sufferers live with on a daily basis.
Cabel pointed out that it is equally important that we find healing to both aspects of the body odor condition, the physical and the emotional, and they are so intertwined that you can’t address one without addressing the other. He said that each one of us in our respective forums have a duty to support each other in order to enjoy support ourselves. We need to create in these forums an environment in which we feel genuine love and concern for each other and for each other’s healing process.
I then pointed out that prior to Cabel’s conference calls, each forum worked independently from each other, and had not joined efforts while remaining separate entities, to unit for scientific research. Consequently, I am currently in the final stages of creating a blog that would bring about precisely that – establish a setting in which each forum, still maintaining it'sindividual entity, can still come together and unite to answering the questions in the questionnaires designed by Arun and any other scientist he may be working with, in order to be able to collect the amount of data and subjects needed to carry out significant research.
I do hope everyone in these forums become very proactive toward this goal. Note how many members there are in each forum from all around the world, and just think of how much important data can be obtained from us all. We can all be a part of the solution!
