thanks for your response, hopinso! i found your advice extremely helpful, especially the bit about retoxing if one feels they are getting to a dangerous place... how fortuitous that you got that Dr. Pepper instead of water!

i'm hoping that my next fast will go a little smoother (because it will be my second one and because i'm adhering very closely to the rules of natural hygiene in between), but if my emotions go all haywire again i will really try to focus on just riding them out with as much detachment and mental clarity as possible. one of my main reasons for fasting is for spiritual enlightenment... i do have a lot of emotions i need to detox, a lot of old "stuff" that i'm holding on to, so i guess dealing with this mental anguish will be the form my journey takes. it makes a lot of sense.
