Thanks Mpdela. For fmo3 deficiency (of any %), it would be the holy grail. Personally I think ERT will arrive sooner rather than later.
And also, I think we should make sure any expert involved in TMAU has considered the idea of gentically engineering probiotics to be rich in fmo3. I know Dr Mitchell in London has mentioned this, but I presume its not something anyone is actually trying to do. For tmau, it must be a pretty good option if it is feasible. If it was possible, then probiotics could oxidize the tma (and other fmo3 substrates) in the gut itself, before absorption.
