Re: hello.
Hi freelancer,
I'm sorry you have had this condition for so long and have not found a solution to it. There are so many possible causes of underarm BO, and it may very well be more than one cause in your case. It's best to determine what the cause is first so that you can start a treatment plan targeted to your specific condition. From what I understand you're saying is that your only source of body odor is your underarms, not your breath, your feet, your sweat and other body secretions in any other body part except your underarms, am I understanding this correctly?
You may want to read an article posted in MSN groups http://groups.msn.com/bodyodorsupport/whatisbromhidrosis.msnw
See the left side menu under What is Bromhidrosis? It explains the possible causes of this problem. Have you seen a dermatologist about this yet? I think it would be a good idea to do so.
You can try some of the localized treatments mentioned in some of the posts in this page, but if the source of your problem is metabolic, ingestion of foods, drugs, or toxic materials, that is coming out of your body through your underarm sweat grands, then localized treatment will only give you temporary/partial solutions at best.
If you think it could be caused by a localized bacterial infection, then your dermatologist would certainly be able to prescribe something for it. If you begin an antibacterial underarm treatment, make sure you had wash the underarms of your shirts very well until you smell that the odor is gone. What happens is that if you do have a bacterial infection under your arm that produces odor and you perspire it unto your shirt, then your shirt is contaminated, and even if you get rid of the infection under your arm and then you put on a contaminated shirt, you'ver recontaminated your underarm again. Also, even if you buy a new shirt, make sure you wash it first before wearing it because it may be contaminated also.
I know I have not offered you a definite remedy to your problem, but rather information about possible causes and an encouragement to seek professional medical treatment from a dermatologist.
Good luck,
