Root canal and cyst in neck?

My 6 year old son had a root canal by 6 months ago. Lately he is having a cyst in his neck over the hyoid bone. It was diagnosed as thyroglossal duct cyst.
It bothers him a little with swallowing.
So what shall i do about his root canal? Do you think root canal removal will help the cyst to be gone?
