Interesting train of thought!
Well considered!
I especially like what you say in your last paragraph...
"Since I have come after it from just about every angle in my own case, I can't help but feel that by process of elimination that maybe it just comes down to liver function as the principal factor. The alkalizing and cleansing effect of well balanced mineralized bile might just be the most important consideration."
...For I keep returning to minerals as a primary factor in all well-being...helped along by the opinions of other posters, as well as my own small experiments.
Just today I read in the Pancreatic Cancer forum. Some seem to think that the pancreatic functions are central to bodily health...and the pancreas operates in harmony with the liver, sensing the exact content of each and every mouthful of food. They say, too, that digestion begins with the sight and smell of food, and that the digestive juices in the mouth begin the process. How's that for a mind/body connection?!
I'm also of the opinion that gardening must be done on soil well-protected by a turf of weeds and grasses, untilled...we need the soil micro-organisms to release minerals from sand and rock in the soil, and deliver them to the roots of plants, in every drop of water that can be conserved, over time. Drying the soil, even a little, defeats our purposes.
As you may have noticed, I am enthusiastic about a bath or footbath in a 1% solution of Himalayan crystal salt, which is all the minerals left from an ancient evaporated ocean. (There are deposits left from other ancient oceans, as well.)
I strongly feel that the skin, with all its protective systems, is the perfect way for us to get all the minerals we need, through osmosis. As well, such water dilutes toxins.
Perhaps parasites can only get a foothold where the body is weakened by mineral imbalances.
Some are of the opinion that weight management is only possible when minerals are 'balanced'...copper and zinc, for example.
As I see it, osmosis, through the skin, is a no-brainer because the minerals pass in and out, according to need, without us having to 'calculate' anything except the 1% solution, as salty as tears...at 97 degrees, for 20 to 30 minutes...the perfect ocean swim, in my opinion.

Anyway, it is late, and I probably shouldn't post at night.
:D
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts, 81951...and your recipe.
My best,
