Thyroglossal Duct Cyst

Sorry for the off topic. I don't know where else to ask. My 6 year old son has a
soft bump in his neck, right in the place where the neck folds, in the
base of the tongue.
when I searched in the internet, its probably Thyroglossal Duct Cyst.
I don't think its a tumor because its soft and not discoloured. (I
hope it isn't a tumor!) But the treat looks invasive! Its surgical
with removing part of the hyoid bone causing the thyroid to stop
working, then they use radioactive thyroid scans then the person has
to take medicine for life.
I don't want all of that for my son!
What is your advice?
