MORE Research on skin cleansers normal skin pH
I got this info from various websites. The normal skin pH is 5.5-6.5, which is a little acidic, and trimethylamine is very alkalosis, pH9.8. So, it stands to reason that the goal is to get the alkalosis down to the normal skin pH by using soaps that are closer to the normal skin pH – and to use them regularly, especially after perspiration.
I researched many manufacturers of skin cleanser products by calling their customer service department and asking for the pH info. I was surprised that many soap companies didn't want to give me the pH of their products, but Olay did, so here's the info:
pH factors: Acidosis < 7; alkalosis > 7.5
Trimethylamine is a strong base (pH 9.8)
Normal skin pH 5.5-6.5
Alcohol has low pH (pH 2 in aqua)
***Recommended use of acid soaps for oily skin with occasional acne***
