EDIT: Dark Circles around the eyes

Dark circles under the eyes are symptoms of:  Allergies, Adrenal Failure, Stress, Lack of Sleep, Poor nutrition.  They could also be caused by other health conditions.

Here is one list found online:

  •  Aging
  •  Allergic shiners
  •  Allergies - dark circles under the eyes (Allergic shiners)
  •  Black eye - bruising in the eye
  •  Dehydration - dark rings around the eyes
  •  Dust allergy
  •  Dust mite allergies - dark circles under the eyes (Allergic shiners)
  •  Eczema - allergic shiners (dark rings around the eyes)
  •  Hay fever - dark circles under the eyes (Allergic shiners)
  •  Inherited eye blood vessel condition - dark circles under the eyes run in families.
  •  Mold allergies - dark circles under the eyes (Allergic shiners)
  •  Mold allergy
  •  Pallor - the paleness of the skin may accentuate the dark rings.
  •  Persistent eye rubbing
  •  Phenol sulfotransferase deficiency - dark circles under eyes
  •  Sleep difficulty - see the many causes of sleep difficulty symptoms (e.g. stress, depression, sleep disorders, etc.).

Ruling out allergies, and other health conditions, has your life been stressed during this time?  Depression?

How are you feeling?  If you suspect that something may be seriously amiss, I would look up a Naturopath, and have them rule out anything serious.

I am going to give my standard suggestion and it involves nutrition.

It is good that you have removed sugars, soy, dairy, etc. from your diet.   Eat a completely natural diet.  No processed foods, no sweeteners. and this includes sweeteners in the processed foods themselves.  Even in impulse buying items, such as chewing gum.  I tell everyone beware of a package that says "Low Fat."  And just for the record, I will state that sodas and fast food are nothing but sheer poison to your system.  They will destroy your liver in no time.

My diet includes 80% raw and 20% cooked.  That is mainly chicken, turkey, and fish.

What about supplements?  Are you taking supplements?  These are the supplements I recommend that I actually take myself.

    • A good men's/women's multivitamin/multimineral supplement.
    • CoQ10 (I recommend this highly to everybody.  Works on a cellular level.)
    • Colloidal Gold
    • Grapeseed Extract
    • Bromelain
    • Coconut Oil

If one or more of the above is not easily accessible to you, just click the link below.

Get plenty of rest.  And exercise is very important.  Exercise that is fun. Otherwise, exercise will soon go by the wayside.

Here are a couple of other things that may help:

    • Apply cool tea bags, an ice cube wrapped in soft cloth, or cucumber slices to your eyes daily. The tannin in tea bags has been shown to reduce swelling and discoloration, and cucumber slices have long been used to reduce puffiness and refresh the appearance of skin around the eyes. Lie down, preferably in the morning, and leave fresh cucumber slices or cool, damp caffeinated tea bags (you can refrigerate them overnight so they’ll be ready) over your eyes for about 10-15 minutes. Keep your eyes closed.
    • Apply an eye cream containing vitamin K and retinol. Dark circles may be caused by a deficiency of vitamin K. Regardless of the cause, however, recent research has shown that skin creams containing these two ingredients reduce puffiness and discoloration significantly in many patients. Long-term daily use seems to have the greatest effect.
    • Make a paste from a teaspoon of tomato juice, 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice, a pinch of turmeric powder and a pinch of gram flour. Apply under eyes for 10 minutes.
    • Apply cotton balls soaked in cucumber juice or potato juice around the eyes.
    • Rub castor oil around the eyes, before going to bed, wash it off the next morning, works for both dark circles and puffy eyes
    • Apply a small amount of preparation h under eyes, wait 15 minutes and wipe off. An instant fix.

Now........... in case the dark circles should be caused by allergies, and allergies can include a wide array of things.

Actually, how I have handled my allergies is so simple it sounds almost too good to be true.  One teaspoon of natural apple cider vinegar, together with one teapsoon of raw honey.  At first I took it three times a day, but now I only take it once  day.  In six months I was allergy free and I now I even have an indoor cat.  That is a miracle.

As for Alopecia, I don't know a thing about that condition.  On  googling it, I learned that it is an autoimmune disorder.  So, I am going to refer you to Shirley's Wellness Cafe, http://www.shirleys-wellness-cafe.com/  If you don't find what you are looking for, you can ask Shirley.  I would venture to say that if Shirley doesn't know the answer, I won't say no one, but not many people will.

I do hope I have helped you.  Just stay physically balanced and rested, and usually everything works out.

    Hugs,

    Luella
