treat iud reports from a frienad and a coworker

i am 24 yrs old. i have a cyst on my right ovary. i am 5'3" 280lbs. my doc said i should get the mirena iud to regulate my period and reduce bleeding and cramping but any other birth control will cause me to gain weight. when i googled the mirena website to place my order i stumbled across this website. and now i scared. i have a friend that says they have had no problem at all with it. i have a coworker who loves her and recomends that i get it. although she did tell me she does experience some pain on the side that the iud is on. but thats only during her period. she said other than that she loves it. but when i came to this site and read all the horror stories i don't know what i should do. i need help!advice anyone?!?
