surgery for hernia

I just found out I have an abdominal hernia as the result of a surgery which I had many complications with. I became seriously infected, and was on Antibiotics for about 7 weeks.

My doctor has scheduled me for surgery, but he says I will be in the hospital for a couple of days. I was surprised because I thought the procedure would be done on an outpatient basis.

Also, the surgery is 3 weeks from now, and I would had thought they would had scheduled the surgery earlier, given that my inards are popping out. It is a fairly big hernia and I am in pain.

I just wanted to get some insight on this or your thoughts about the situation.
