tmj pain

I just found out that I have TMJ. This is the worst pain I've ever felt. Since I was 19 I've had clicking/popping sounds but it never hurt. Now I'm 26, 4 months ago, my right side of my face got swollen and then the pain started. I felt like my eyeballs were going to pop out, I felt seasick all the time, couldn't sleep, couldn't even stand people talking. I went to an ENT doctor she toke x-rays,catscans and couldn't find the reason why I was swollen and then she said "you might have tmj". So last month I saw the Tmj doctor who gave me a mouth guard and told me to just eat soup. Today I had to call my doctor and tell him that the meds are not working and I'm just feeling really out of it. Now he says that I have to wear the mouth guard all day. Now my question is... What can I do? Is there anything else that I can do to help with the pain.

Thank you!
