There are tons of scientific studies on fasting; the metabolic/chemical changes in the body, discharges that occur, the positive health changes that have been experienced and witnessed by zillions over time. Just consider all the clinical fasting studies on diabetes alone.
You're probably not going to find any mainstream or public study that ever suggests it is a cure for anything however. Can you imagine the liability? Not much in this world works that way. You have to "read between the lines" of the many micro-focused studies on fasting and use common sense, or buy a private study. For instance, if one study suggests that during a fast there's "an increase excretion of toxic metals in the urine and feces," then do you need some expensive scientific proof to convince you you're body is trying to rid and heal itself of said toxin?
Of course fasting can cure and optimize health if done correctly. Its basic common sense. Give the body a break and it can focus more readily on repairing itself. Its what bodies do regardless. Imagine what they can do without any load on the metabolic, filtering, and circulatory systems? Water fasting, however, is not for the inexperienced or the long term, and should only be done under expert care in extreme need.
Here are a few mainstream articles that skirt around the edge, at least admitting fasting can be beneficial to health, yet notice how careful they are with their conclusions. It is also worthy to note that the people referenced in the study barely crack the surface of fasting curatives (because they don't do it long enough) yet they still get impressive health benefits from it..
