Conference Call
I felt so energized after that conference call today guys. I was really happy to meet all of you and I want you to know that if I encouraged you even slightly as much as you encouraged me, then the call was a success.
I really feel like these calls can be the conduit for the people at the "top" (like Sandy and Dr. Preti, researchers, lawmakers, therapists) to reach all of us....the college student who is getting his or her first rude comment, all the away up to the older aged individual who is struggling to keep his or her job in the turmoil of discrimination.
Not only that, but in the midst of trying to get some other things done and intermittenly listening to the call, I actually heard a lot of new friendships being forged and dare I say a little....uh....flirting....at the end??? Maybe? Oh well, we deserve it right?!?! haha
All joking aside, I was very happy to have Bobbie share her wisdom and research with the group. I hope we came away from that call happier and more determined than when we came in.
On a very serious note, let's put our money where our mouth is:
I have heard many times on these boards that "the one good thing" about this condition is that we feel a greater sense of understanding for people who suffer.
Well, I think we can show a vast amount of understanding and caring to the people who share our condition. Let's at least let our compassion start with our own "family", right?
If you go to CureZone, or Yahoo, or even this site, there is a way to send an e-mail to everyone that posts. Send a couple of fellow sufferers an e-mail every once in a while just to let them know that you are thinking about them.
We all know that we love to get an e-mail or two from somebody who cares, so why don't we start to do it within our own group? To get a friend, you have to be a friend, and although I can't live up to perfectly loving my neighbor as myself, it feels so good to try.....
I love random acts of kindness; they have the ability to make a day full of sniffles and dumb reactions to me fade away. It feels so good to bring happiness to someone else.
Regards,
Cabel
