Stockholm Syndrome: survivor instinct

Humans dissociate under extreme stress, and reinvent a persona to adapt. This Stockholm Syndrome [google it] was experienced by Patty Hearst, who underwent self-protective identification and cooperation with her rapist-abductors of the Symbionese Liberation Army. Whole nations can experience this effect when overwhelmed by a strongman-type threat. This erasure of the normal persona as a coping mechanism can mean that when healing begins with time, a validation or affirmation of one's original personhood is desired.

"Did that really happen?" "Did people I know and love react like that?" The shame-and-blame the victim is another coping mechanism of guilty bystanders tragically seen at play in the Catholic prelate molestation scandals. That needed validation is often not present. Kindly go to the Foundation of Human Understanding website,
http://www.fhu.com
and get the "How Your Mind Can Keep You Well" free download. This is a deprogramming, dehypnotizing self-therapy you will find most effective. May the Creator now grant restoration and healing to all such souls.
