Those are probably the three most common triggers.

I'd go so far as to say that stress is the top one overall, with illness right up there, too. The things you are listing as symptoms are not actually typical. Given that the vast majority of infected people are asymptomatic, the most common symptoms are, well, no symptoms.

Sex is often reported as a trigger. That could be for a couple of reasons. One is that it can be traumatic on delicate tissues and the other is, since you say it's relatively infrequent, that it might be emotionally stressful, even if in a good way.

I'm sorry you're having other health issues to deal with. I would recommend that you get some good testing as soon as makes sense so you know what's going on. If you are having some symptoms such as blisters or sores, then a type-specific culture would be a good approach. Otherwise, a good blood test like the HerpeSelect IgG for both 1&2 is what I usually recommend. (Disclaimer: I am not a doctor or medically trained, so my opinions on this sort of thing are worth exactly what you paid for them.)

You might want to ask this question over in the discussions at
http://racoon.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi
where there are some medically trained folks that hang out there.
