common triggers that bring on an outbreak

I never thought I really had herpes because I have never actually seen a blister, etc. Husband does but is on daily valtrex though. But, I have a question.
What are some common triggers? Is sex one of them? Is stress, or illness, etc
I seem to get all the other symtoms. Achy, heightened sense of nerve sensitivity, extreme pain in the lower quandrant of my body, HAHA.
Obviously I need testing but right now I have some other serious health problems going on and this is not on the top of the agenda.
Sex which is infrequent certainly seems to be giant trigger for me!!!
Anyone else have this problem??? Help please....
