Re: I need some female input for a psychology paper I'm writing for school.
I was in 6th grade...so I suppose I was about...11 or 12.
I remember that I got it on Valentine's Day and I thought that was very strange. Just because I was thinking Valentines, Hearts, Red, Blood...and normally my February period starts on Valentine's Day.
I didn't tell my mom about it. I tried to hide it and use the pads that were already in the house...but I used them all up and then borrowed from friends and just loaded my panties with toilet paper because I was afraid of telling here that I needed some. I wasn't embarassed but I didn't feel like I was comfortable talking about it. She never really talked to my sister and me about things like that. Don't get me wrong, she tried to express that she was available and wanting to be approachable on issues like that, but I just was never comfortable talking to her about anything personal.
I think I learned more about it through Judy Blume books.
Perhaps you can incoporate Are You There God, it's Me, Margaret. I'm sure it's Judy Blume...that's a very popular title for young girls.
