I think I have both dopamine and serotonin deficiency. Anyone knows best supplements?
I was diagnosed with chronic
Depression 6 years ago and had taken lexapro 5mg (my doctor wanted me to take 10mg but I cut it half for its strong side effect-I am small) from 2004 to 2007 on and off.
Although lexapro saved me from crazy thoughts (divorce, suicide-I have a sister who committed it, drinking-My mom was an alcoholic..) and violent behaviors, I didn't think it was right for me.
When I was on lexapro I felt immediately better, but soon I got so high that I went shopping all the time. Plus I still had lots of difficulty to go through regular routines, houseworks, and intimacy.
So I decided not to take it since May 2007 and to started yoga. Unfortunately yoga doesn't do much for me though I love it.
I noticed last three months have been really tough, and I think I need to take some action to deal with my depression.
While I searched for
Depression alternates I learned differences between dopamine and serotonin deficiency. I think I have both dopamine deficiency (fatigue, trouble getting out of bed, bored, low motivaton, difficulty doing a simple task, no libido) and serotonin deficiency (anxiety, PMS, being aggressive and nasty, muscle pain, migraine). I don't want to see my doctor again for this because then he will give me some combination of antidepressants.
I am taking SAM-e with multivitamin and 400mcg Folic Acid to make sure SAM-e work well.
I am considering 5-HTP also. I learned that both SAM-e and 5-HTP work on serotonin deficiency. My questions are,
1) Is it O.K. to take SAM-e and 5-HTP together?
2) Do Vt. B group (critical to dopamine deficiency) interfere SAM-e or 5-HTP work?
Please help me. I don't want to harm myself with neither
Depression nor antidepressant.
