Re: Furthering Knowledge of PTSD

Hi cat2008,

Did you get all the participants for your research yet?

I was diagnosed with PTSD almost 5 years ago, and after having worker 35 years of my life, am now on disability for PTSD. I have an autoimmune disease (not a contageous one) that has been torturing me for the past 16 years, and when I was a victim of a crime 5 years ago, it left me with a permanent shoulder injury that has been aggravated by my autoimmune disease, and in turn further aggravates this disease that is triggered by stress. To top it all, my employer of 23 years tried to fire me, 5 months prior to me qualifying for early retirement, because they wanted to discard me as "damaged goods".

I have lost all semblance of a safety zone around me that I may have ever felt in the past. I’m so afraid all the time, and I don’t know where to hide!!! I don’t trust anyone other than my immediate family. Thank God they love me and put up with my panic attacks, my depression, extreme anxiety, and compulsive behavior. I can’t sleep. Sometimes I feel I can’t cope with anything, and all I want to do is stay home – but I’m scared to be at home alone since my house has been broken into a number of times. Thank God no one was home when that happened, but I only feel “safe” at home when someone else is with me.

If I can help you with your research or if there's anything I can do to help anyone else, please let me know.
