Re: Carrot Juice and Diabetes

If there is diabetes in your family, and if you have PCOS, metabolic syndrome, syndrome X, insulin resistance, or hypertension, I would do a fingerstick 2 hours after the carrot juice to be sure the glucose level comes down to under 140. I say this because there is a period of months or years where a person can have problems with glucose levels without actually being diagnosed diabetic. Additionally, persons with weakened adrenals have ptoblems with high glycemic foods on an empty stomach, causing nausea, weakness or dizziness. Those with leaky gut or Crohn's can get diarrhea from large amounts of carrot juice.

So while technically you cannot get Type II diabetes from daily carrot juice, or fresh beet juice (which affects my glucose levels), or even potatoes for that matter, if a fingerstick shows a problem in staying above 140, you can always use mixed juices until your body becomes healthier.

Type II diabetes is a lifestyle problem, where the body, from bad habits, does not respond normally to foods. Change the lifestyle, change the body's responses.
