allergy/steroid/medicines
I am replying to myself! Went to the dermatologist. I got a cortisone shot, some steroid ointment, and some advice. He said change my toothpaste-no more whitening/sensitive formula, and also recommended Cetaphil face wash and moisturizer ONLY to cleanse my face. Also, he said to only use Vaseline on my lips for moisture. Well, that and the Cetaphil. I am supposed to go back in 2 weeks to check my progress AND to discuss long term management. I know what that means...it's not going to go away. He basically eluded to the fact that I am in a flared-up stage of a chronic condition. He was unsure of the cause but thought it could be allergy related. He asked what foods I am allergic to, and I SWEAR that I have tested positive on an IgE blood test from an allergist as allergic to: pork, beef, milk, potato, tomato, lemon, wheat, onion, peanut, and egg white. I am serious. However, the only severe allergy that I have is the beef. I eat the other foods in moderation.
I have a suspicion that my lip thing is aggravated by tomato. Tomatoes are very acidic, and foods such as salsa, spaghetti sauce, and ketchup are very salty or vinegary. Has anyone else been suspicious of this? I did eat salsa tonight, but I broke the chips into little pieces and didn't let any of it touch my lips. I am very interested to know if anyone else has experienced a flare or change after eating tomato foods.
Has anyone been tested at an allergist's office and had positive results for foods? This is interesting. Thanks.
Oh, I also got a big pack of straws :)
