I think it's much more simple than that, actually. It's not just probable that evolution's going to happen, it's a certainty. We evolve because we strive to evolve, and genetic change is nature's way of allowing the mind and/or body to slightly manipulate the outcome of each passing generation. It's not magic or chance, it's literally changing ourselves into what we want.
