3 weeks post-op gallbladder surgery

I had my gallbladder removed three weeks ago. I haven't really had an appetite yet but when I do eat, I sometimes get nauseas, throw up and almost always have to go to the bathroom right away. I am able to eat jello-o, bananas and grapes without any problems. I pretty much stick to those foods while I am at work. All my scares are healing nicely but occasionally when I stand up or move my belly button area would hurt.

My newest problem is what I am curious to know if anyone else has experienced or heard of. Two nights ago while I was getting ready for bed, I took notice to a sticky, green goo that was around my belly button. When I looked into my belly button, there was a fleshy bubble thing that had never been there before. I cleaned the area and placed a band-aid on it so that I wouldn't ruin my pajamas. In the morning, the band-aid was completely covered in the same goo. I went to work and since I work at a school, I asked the school nurse if this was something I should see my family doctor or the surgeon for, or if it was just something that happens. After looking at it, she recommended I see my family doctor.

I went to my family doctor, told her my story and showed her my belly button. She then went and brought in another doctor to look at it and were concerned enough to call the surgeon that performed the gallbladder operation. After speaking to him on the phone, they suggested I meet my surgeon at the Emergency Room. It took my surgeon sometime to see me so before he came, the ER doctor came to look at me and thought that part of my bowel was coming out through my belly button. Once my surgeon made it over, looked at my belly button for approx. 30 seconds, pushed on my abdomen and said I had a skin infection. He still ordered me to get a CAT scan to make sure everything inside was okay. My surgeon left and I pretty much laid in the ER for two hours to then be released with a diagnosis of a skin infection and I was placed on an antibiotic. I was also instructed to have a follow up with my surgeon in a week.

I just don't know how I feel about that diagnosis. I am no doctor myself, but I don't see how three doctors could think it is something serious enough to send me to the ER and then one say it is a common skin infection. I also wouldn't imagine a skin infection hurt like my inside belly button does. It isn't itchy, it isn't red, it doesn't tingle or burn-it just hurts, like a stabbing pain. Also, wouldn't my family doctor be able to recognize a skin infection?

Anyone else have anything remotely similar? Thanks for reading!
