You did not mention if you were flossing or irrigating, and if you are not, these procedures may make a difference. Brushing unfortunately will only clean the depth of 1-3mm pockets which is considered normal pocket depth. So if you have deeper pockets where food debris is easliy trapped, this trapped food becomes the food for bacteria which causes infection, the infection inturn destroys the fibers that attach gums to the teeth. It is the destruction of these fibers that causes the gums to recess, and unless the infection is stopped, it will eventually destroy the bone. In addition to oil pulling, I have found great improvement in my gums by following the program outlined on the website saveyourteeth.com. Good luck:)
