I use Mrs. Wages and yes it's a yucky chaulk taste but when you mix it with the blackstrap molasses and lemon juice it helps it out some. If you taste the chalk taste in the drink you should place a just a little more of the BSM and Lemon Juice. It should have a very neutral taste..not too tart of lemon...not too chalky.

OK the kelp is a different flavor altogether. LOL
